Slay Concert

Fri Jul 19 2022

For Billboard Vietnam's Slay Concert on International Women’s Day, I proposed an artistic concept that resonates with both its artful aspirations and the Gen-Z target audience. Drawing inspiration from Man Ray's captivating photograms and iconic portrayals of the female form, the design language will center on fluid gradients, botanical silhouettes, and a powerful "female gaze" motif.

As Art Director, I led the development of this concept across all visual elements, collaborating with 2D, 3D, and motion graphics artists to create a cohesive package encompassing key event visuals, stage design, LED displays, and social media content

To achieve a budget-friendly yet impactful stage design, we proposed a minimalistic approach that embodies both femininity and versatility in installation, using giant fabric sculpture flowers in white. The white fabric served as a blank canvas, allowing the stage lighting to change the flowers' appearance, creating an iridescent effect.

Like the multifaceted aspects of femininity, flower symbolism and metaphor encompass a vast spectrum. Femininity can embody tenderness, kindness, and nurturing, yet it can also encompass passion, love, and even rage. This beautiful complexity, with all its potential gentleness and fierceness, is what makes being a woman so worthwhile

Five pop artists took the stage, each delivering a captivating set of 4-5 tracks back to back. An audience of 1,000 witnessed this intimate yet grand event. The stage setup was minimal, featuring only two live cameras. These cameras dynamically captured the essence of the show, switching between close-up shots of the artists and corresponding abstract visuals to create a truly immersive experience.
